Letters, January 29, 2009 Californians: Tapped and Strapped

Dear Gov. Schwarzenegger:

Great leaders lead by example. Every family knows there are only two ways to balance a budget: earn more or spend less. Before the Legislature asks already tapped and strapped Californians to give more, how about spending less---starting at the top. I suggest:

1st. Request an immediate 5% cut in Your Personal Salary, and request all elected officials to do the same. Then publish the list of those who comply.

2nd. Order an immediate freeze on hiring, allowing natural attrition over time to shrink the government payroll.

Californians have a right to know who is willing to put their money where their mouth is and who is just giving us lip service.

THE BIG LIE: I’m not worthy to receive.

Are you continually frustrated because it seems that no matter how hard you try---even stating and claiming that you have your greater good NOW---that it sometimes seems to elude you, almost teasingly just beyond your reach?

Dumbfounded to discover in the early 90’s that I had been silently sabotaging the very things I was struggling to attain, I set out to find the reasons why.

It’s interesting to note that no matter how loudly I affirmed my prosperity, my abundance and my right to attain happiness and all that entailed, there were deeply held beliefs quite to the contrary.

Having been molested as a child, and feeling that I had no one to tell, I began to feel ugly inside, unclean. Looking good on the outside, with the perfect marriage, home, family and acting career, I felt that my life was a sham; that I was an impostor and that if I let anyone get too close (including success) that they would see through my charade and see my ugliness. All this was buried in my subconscious mind and had to be coaxed gently to the surface over time by a professional.

Whatever your experiences, childhood or otherwise, if you are continuously blocked from accomplishing your goals, there may be some hidden cause unknown to your conscious mind. Here’s the good news! You don’t have to know the reasons why. You don’t have to dig into your past to see who said or did what to whom and when. You can simply begin to declare, daily and often:

The past has no hold over me. As of this moment, right now, I am free to move on and create the life I came here to live. All of Life is urging me forward and I say YES to Life. I am grateful. Thank you Life!

Say it with passion and conviction. Your are convincing your own subconscious mind that whatever you’re past, you are done with it and moving on. It works; believe me, I know, because my life today is rich, abundant, happy and successful.

Write me with your questions, experiences or discoveries and let’s see where this goes.
